El-Op 3x21
5.56x45 - 3x - Israel - Galil / M16

The El-Op is a 3x21 scope produced in Israel by Eyal for use by the IDF and Israli police in the 1980s (Cohen, 20??). It mounts via a carry handle mount similar to the Colt 3x20 scopes. While primarily used on M16 based rifles it shows up used on a number of other weapons in IDF use. Services dates are unclear, but photos show it in IDF use as late as 1993 (Rottman, 2011).

Scopes found on the US second hand market are all surplus and often show signs of heavy use with extensive finish wear and damaged mounting brackets. Damage to the mounting brackets was primary complaints against the scope in IDF and Israli police service as this could lead to loss of zero. In the 1990s production switched from Eyal to Koors Trade, this coincided with the arrival of more modern scopes like the ACOG 4x32 in IDF service (Cohen, 20??).

Side view. The smaller windage knob is not intended to be quickly adjusted and is covered by a screw on cover.

Serial number engraved in tube body.

Some scopes are marked on the top of the scope 3x21 with a small logo.

Others have additional information marked on the side of the scope.

Elevation turret marked in 5.56mm.

Reticle.

Mounted on a silenced Mini Uzi.

Mounted on M16 and variants.

Mounted on a long barreled Tavor. Unclear how the scope is actually mounted. Looks like scope to pic rail to second pic rail to Tavor? Chance this is just a photoshop mock up.

Mounted on a Galil. Note scope appears to be centerline mounted and the cheek rest is does not offset the shooters face.

Manual cover for the Eyal when mounted on a Galil. Not scope mount is different from the above and cheek rest is the offset version which places the shooters face up and to the left.
